A history, parenting, and child development lesson wrapped into one!  Sharon Gretzinger gave an informative presentation on the history and basis behind Montessori education, how it’s used effectively in Montessori schools, and the outstanding advantages the form of education has on children in their younger developing years.  She shared with us the stages of the education system and some of the activities that go on in the classroom, including a dining set and teachings on how to set the table properly for dinner.  With a large emphasis on respect and conduct in the environment, as well as having a calm and serene, non-institutional classroom, it’s apparent how this form of education can be beneficial for many of our children. 
Sharon noted for the group that although it is private education, often times those formative younger years of Montessori can prove worthwhile in teaching a child how to properly learn and study for later on, allowing them to easily excel through secondary and post-secondary education. 

From the Peanut Gallery:  Interesting fact from Sharon – cursive writing at a young age (before or instead of printing) can reverse dyslexia.  Who knew?
